...a ski resort for champions! BOROVETS
Borovets
is the oldest and the biggest mountain resort in Bulgaria. Lots of world ski championships
were organised here. It is located at 1350 above the sea level on the northern slopes of
Rila mountain among age-old pine woods, at the foot of peak Mousala (2925 m) the highest
one on the Balkan peninsula. Borovets is easily accessible, being at a distance of 73 km
from Sofia (the capital of Bulgaria) and 126 km from Plovdiv. The nearest town is Samokov,
which is 10 km far from the resort. |

Borovets
was developed into a modern ski resort of high class with luxury hotels, restaurants,
discos, shops and of course an excellent network of ski runs and lifts along the slopes of
the mountain. Borovets is a resort of Alpine type and provides excellent opportunities for
a whole range of winter sports-Alpine sports, cross-country skiing, ski jumps and
biathlon. The resorts has twice hosted World Cup Alpine skiing rounds. Its biathlon track
is one of the best in the world.
SUN AND SNOW ARE GUARANTEED! The
slopes of Borovets have a permanent snow cover from November to May, more than 1.5 m
thick. The air in Borovets is crystal - clear and free of any pollutants. The average
temperature during the coldest month January is - 4.6 ° C. |

are suitable for anybody even the beginners. The slopes and runs are maintained in perfect
condition and are designed with international markings and multilingual signs. |
SKI SCHOOL
FOR BEGINNERS
The Borovets ski school is known worldwide as prestigious one. There are more than
200 ski instructors fluent in foreign languages and most of them are former professional
skiers. There is ski rental service next to each lift station and ski run. The SKI PATROL
provides to 24 hour emergency service.
OVER 40 KM OF VARIOUS SKI RUNS The
ski runs of Borovets are located in three different regions. Cross - country and
biathlon tracks are located 2 km away from the resort together with the cross - country
tuition tracks. The runs for the ski jumps are 75 and 50 m long and are serviced by a
chair lift. Borovets is serviced by efficient ski lift system.

THE
RILA MONASTERY...YOU MUST SEE IT! Visit the greatest Bulgarian monastery. It was
established in the heart of The Rila Mountain in the 10th century. The monastery will
surprise you with its fantastic wall - paintings and frescoes and its brilliant
iconostasis, its rich collection of icons and manuscripts and a magnificent masterpiece of
the Renaissance - a wooden cross with 140 microscopic scenes from the Bible featuring more
than 1500 figurines, the largest of them no bigger than a grain of rice. |
