    Summer Holidays

So, you’ve reached the end of your exams, and you’ve got a long (or sometimes not so long) period between walking out of the exam hall for the last time or handing in your last essay and getting your results. You could, of course, go and get a job and put University behind you, but a lot of people use this period to go away with some of their friends and have a really wonderful holiday before the real world kicks in and employment beckons.

Whilst a holiday is a great idea, by this point of the University year everyone is generally running a little bit low on cash, so the most important thing is to make sure that wherever you go it doesn’t cost very much. Really, you have two options, on the one hand you can sort everything out yourself, find the cheapest flights that you can and get a hostel or you can have someone else do the hard work for you and still come out with a good deal.

It’s not a very difficult choice.

Of course, getting an all-inclusive holiday isn’t always very cheap, but there are ways to find a good accommodation at afordable rates. Try cheap-hostels.org for a wide choice of student hostels and budget hotels. The great thing about being a student is that when you finish, the summer is just beginning but everyone else is at school or working, so you can get some amazing deals simply from going slightly out of season. It’ll save you hundreds of pounds per person.

Another thing to bear in mind is that there are certain parts of the world where visiting is particularly cheap at the moment (and not thinking about Thailand). Greece is facing a stack of problems, and its debt issues are well documented; but as the Greek economy struggles the price of holidays is dropping all the time, and every penny that you spend in sterling is going further than ever when converted into Euros. Just because the Greek economy is struggling doesn’t mean that it’s not still a fantastic place to visit, with amazing beaches, lots of hot sunshine and loads of fantastic food.

With the widely trailed heat wave about to hit British shores you could just stay here and enjoy the sunshine, but there’s something that little bit more fun about lazing around on a Mediterranean beach somewhere and after three years at University, don’t you think you deserve a holiday?
