How to Have a Budget Holiday in Tenerife

Tenerife does have a bit of a reputation for being a pricey holiday destination, but you shouldn’t let that put you off heading out in search of amazing weather and glorious beaches. With cheap accommodation, cheap flights from all major UK airports and a whole host of fantastic free attractions it’s easy to have a great holiday on a budget with just a little planning. Enjoy Tenerife without breaking the bank with this handy guide.

    Beaches

An obvious choice, but the beaches of Tenerife are its number one attraction for a reason! Many of the island’s beaches boast glorious golden sand, but the natural colour of the beaches is actually black as Tenerife is a volcanic island. It’s well worth opting for a change of scenery though, as the black sand set against the beautiful blue waters is really an astonishing sight! Located near La Paz in Puerto de la Cruz, Playa Bollullo is one of the best places to soak up the sun, being hidden away from the usual tourist haunts.

Most of the beachgoers here are local, so it makes a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the usual tourist resorts.

    Eating

It’s a hard life spending hours on the beach, but someone’s got to do it! After a heavy day of sunbathing and swimming, head to one of the island’s many restaurants and enjoy a traditional Canarian dining experience. It’s tempting to stick to the bars and restaurants of the main town, but these can work out quite expensive. Places such as Los Cristianos are an ideal choice, combining the very best food with fantastic pricing. Located right on the sea front, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the crystal clear waters as you tuck in. even the most expensive option of a T-Bone Steak only comes in at 18€ here.

    Scuba Diving

You might not be able to escape the tourists, but there’s a reason scuba diving in Tenerife is so popular. With postcard-perfect beaches and crystal clear waters, the conditions are just right for a memorable scuba dive. Scuba diving can be a little costly, but if you’re planning to indulge in anything like this whilst you’re away, try a service like https://www.cheapflights.co.uk/flights/Tenerife/ to bring down your flight expenses. Located near the Amarilla Mountain, the Atlantida Dive Club is one of the best places to experience it, offering a huge range of dives for everyone from complete beginners to professionals.

    Teide National Park

Tenerife isn’t just about sunshine and beaches, there’s plenty more on offer on the island too! There’s an abundance of natural attractions and beauty in Tenerife, and perhaps the most striking is Mount Teide. This volcano is the highest point in Spain and the unique volcanic landscape surrounding the national park is like another world! A drive through the pine forest and across the extraordinary landscape is a real must, and you can even take a cable car to the top where you’ll enjoy an amazing view of the surrounding islands.
